sustainable American hardwood that flourishes in the lush coastal waterways of Oregon and Washington. 

 Red Alder is an excellent wood for serving boards and is admired for its rich, reddish-brown color and tight grain.

Additionally, Red Alder is well suited for cutting boards as it has naturally occurring tannic acid in higher levels than other hardwoods.

The tannic acid helps prohibit the growth of bacteria in the wood making it more hygienic to use.
